The Tribunal encourages injured victims to utilise the services of a solicitor experienced in this area, as, although the general principles outlined above may appear straightforward, there is often a great deal of complexity involved that can be confusing to victims acting on their own behalf. Indeed, the Tribunal advises that “persons considering making an application to the Tribunal for financial assistance are encouraged to obtain legal advice before making an application.”
