Victims of Crime Compensation

What assistance is available?

The Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal (VOCAT) awards financial assistance to injured victims of violent crime against their person (not property), punishable by imprisonment and committed in Victoria. The purpose of an Award is to acknowledge the injury or loss suffered and to assist recovery from the crime. Assistance received from other sources, such as TAC or WorkCover, is taken into account in the Tribunal’s assessment of any Award made.
