Background
After completing his university studies, Paul worked as a graduate trainee in banking, before establishing a retail business in 1984 with his family. From a single outlet the family business has grown to approximately 30 branches across Australia. Paul’s key strategic roles included liaison with suppliers in Australia and overseas, banks, leasing executives and shopping centre management and overseeing store design. He also acted as defacto inhouse legal counsel, including liaising with lessors’ lawyers and regulatory bodies.
In 2007 Paul ceased his active role in the business and returned to the University of Melbourne where he completed three subjects necessary to become admitted (after a year of Practical Legal Training) to practice law. He was accepted by Grant Hutchinson to perform an Articled Clerkship at Hutchinson Legal while studying to this end.
In 2008 Paul was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in the Supreme Court of Victoria.
Paul has had valuable exposure in several legal areas, including Corporate Governance and Trade Practices Compliance, Family Law, Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal, Probate and Estate matters.
Given his wide experience as a director of the family business and in the business world generally over the past 25 years. Paul brings extensive business and life experience to the service of present and future clients at Hutchinson Legal.
Paul’s interests outside of law are as diverse as his professional and personal background with music, reading and gardening often mixed in with a trip to the movies, regular school and local football games (occasionally as a goal umpire) and the occasional AFL game.
