My Shopping Rights App

Ever wanted to return a product or obtain a refund but not be sure of your rights? There is a new Application which you can obtain at no charge for your iPhone which helps you understand your rights in regards to returns, refunds, warranties and lay-bys instantly.

This App was developed by Consumer Affairs Victoria, the government agency that regulates fair trading in Victoria. The information is based on laws that apply throughout Australia from 1 January 2011.  This App provides instant advice about your rights when shopping. It answers common questions such as:

 
• What happens if you change your mind about a purchase?
 
• What happens if you want to cancel a lay-by?
 
• What are your rights if an item you purchase breaks down and is outside warranty
 
• Can you use an expired gift voucher?

It has a 'My items' section where you can store a photo of your receipt in case you misplace the paper version and you can also set reminders on your iPhone to tell you when your gift vouchers, lay-bys or warranties expire, all by entering in details about your product, where and when you purchased it.  For more information please visit www.consumer.vic.gov.au/shopping
