White Ribbon Day
Wednesday, 25 November 2009 is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The day is sponsored in Australia by the White Ribbon Foundation which aims to eliminate violence against women by promoting a culture-change on the issue. The day is an international day. however, as declared by the United Nations The symbol of the white ribbon was created by Canadian men in 1991 on the second anniversary of one man's massacre of fourteen women in Montreal. They began the White Ribbon Campaign to urge men to speak out against violence against women.
