World first Dementia drug trial currently underway

Currently underway in Australia is the world's first drug trial to stop the development of Alzheimer's disease. The two-year trial will assess whether those involved have an improved ability to remember things or solve problems.  Michael Woodward the head of Aged Care at Austin Health in Melbourne reports:  We're trying to find out whether we can stop the progression to Alzheimer's dementia in people who are already suffering significant memory problems. We know that people develop the changes in the brain from Alzheimer's disease for many decades, several decades, before they start to develop symptoms.

And those early symptoms are usually memory problems. We're not talking about just forgetting where you've left your keys but significant memory problems that are occur most days and start to have an impact on a person's day to day function, day to day life.

This reminds us that with ageing comes change and that we need to make plans for the future. At Hutchinson Legal we can assist you in preparing Wills and Power of Attorney.
